Autistic entertainer Chou Chou and Love It Productions hold first concert together

A unique entertainer and a dazzling Journey through the Golden Era of Jazz

District of Columbia, United States Apr 7, 2019 (Issuewire.com)  - When we think of autism, we often misunderstand the varying challenges and strengths of autistic individuals and it’s not often we think of autism and world-class entertainment coming together. Chou Chou (pronounced Shoo Shoo), is a bubbling bombshell blonde with many talents, such as a big band singer/dancer, a costume designer/writer, an autistic self-advocate, and more. She manages to face her challenges with her autism, mentor others, and exuberantly shares herself in her life, as an entertainer. When the owners of Love It Productions attended an event with Chou Chou at a supper club in Washington, D.C., they loved the excitement and costumes and set up a meeting to pitch a larger show and Chou Chou loved the idea.

Chou Chou and her cast of singers, dancers, and musicians take audiences through 4 decades of jazz that ranged from the golden era of the 1920s thru the 1950s, with loads of fun, laughs, and tender moments. The dazzling production will feature full period costumes and set design with set pieces being produced in Las Vegas, Nevada by well-known set designer, Pieter Grove of Pieter Grove Designs.

James Dempsey of Love It Productions states, "We have learned how to work with Chou Chou in a way that works for her. We take cues from Chou Chou, respecting her professionalism, and make a few adjustments for her needs." James continues, "Chou Chou is one of the most amazing and talented women I have ever met, and it has been not just a pleasure to work with her, but education in autism as well.  My partner Janis and I are grateful for this opportunity.  We could see more autistic people working together with those willing to be educated on autism by autistic individuals."

Joining in support of the show, is a special guest, long-time pianist to the late Mel Tormé and Les Paul, Johnny "Chops" Colianni on the grand piano, and very special guest vocal performances from James Anthony and Baron Tomcat.

Chou Chou and the Imperial Palms Orchestra will be performing this new 2 act show on Mother's Day weekend, Saturday, May 11th at 7:30 PM at the Lisner Auditorium, on the GWU Campus, Washington, D.C.  Tickets are available at www.gwutickets.com or call 202-994-6800.
