Author Examines Female and Racial Stereotypes in Debut Fiction

Five women compete for top position at a Fortune 500 company

Tucson, Arizona Mar 24, 2019 (Issuewire.com)  - Author Wanda Battle-Frazier’s debut novel, “Color of Friends” explores the dynamics of interracial female friendships, and describes how stereotypes and internalized prejudices often get in the way of forming deep connections with people from different cultures.

The book follows five women coming from different racial backgrounds — African American, Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian, and Native American — competing for a top executive position at a Fortune 500 company. They are all driven, educated, and on top of their game. However, unknown to them, the CEO of the company is a madman who, in the guise of benevolence, is brewing a sinister plan.

The release of “Color of Friends” could not have come at a more opportune time considering there is an increased awareness of racial privilege and further advancement of the feminist mindset. The book paints a picture of what society could look like if women and people of colour are liberated from societal constraints.

Authors Press showcased “Color of Friends” at the Tucson Festival of Books held at the University of Arizona Campus last March 2 and 3, 2019. Festival-goers were treated to an exclusive preview and learned more about Battle-Frazier’s work during the festival.
