New Delhi, Delhi May 7, 2018 (Issuewire.com) - Mr. Asoke K Ghosh was presented with the prestigious Simon Master Chairman's Award for 2018 on 10th April 2018 in partnership with The Publishers Association at the London Book Fair for his contribution and impact on global publishing. What makes it special is that he is only the fourth recipient and the first Indian to get this award.
The Simon Master Chairman’s Award is a prize of distinction, which is awarded to commend an outstanding contribution to the global publishing industry. Throughout his extensive career, Simon Master, the first non-Executive Chairman of the London Book Fair Advisory Board, made a huge contribution to the publishing sector and the Simon Master Chairman’s Award is named in his honour. The award is now in its fourth year.

Today he is the Chairman and MD of PHI Learning where he has championed low-cost educational books for many, many years. He is a founder-member of the Federation of Indian Publishers of which he has been president twice. For his selfless services towards education and publishing, the Federation conferred on him the Most Distinguished Publisher Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award.”
Last year His Highness Dr. Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohamad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah took home the award, but this year Mr. Ghosh beat out other contestants due to his selfless services towards education and book publishing industry. He has been regularly representing the country by participating in the International Book fairs to promote homegrown publications and Indian academia all over the world, and thus contributing to our Prime Minister’s Make in India policy as well.
With this award, he joined the list of previous awardees such as Ernest Hecht, British Publisher, producer and Philanthropist (who founded Souvenir Press Ltd.), 2016 and China Publishing Group, 2015.
About Asoke K Ghosh
A man who has spent over a period of five decades in the world of publishing, Ghosh’s journey started at the age of 11 years. By the time he was eighteen, he had gained some knowledge about the publishing business. He joined Jadavpur University to understand more about printing technology and graphics. After finishing his graduation, Ghosh shifted base to Delhi and studied at the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University. Later, he joined The Times of India Group, where he spent three years in the production department.
Ghosh’s contributions to the publishing world have been widely acclaimed, not only in India but also abroad. His life-long mission is to empower Indian students with world-class books at affordable prices. From the very beginning, he foresaw the huge potential of Indian academia and thus decided to encourage eminent academics and scientists from reputed institutions to write standard books that prepare students of this digital age to excel in their career. An outstanding Rotarian for 41 years (who became Rotary District Governor in 2000-01), Ghosh has done exemplary services to the community. In recognition of his commitment, dedication and services to the community, the highest award, the Distinguished Service Award bestowed on him by Rotary International. He has also received the Service Above Self Award and the Citation for Meritorious Service Award.
