With over two decades of experience, he practices general orthopaedics with special interests in adult and pediatric fracture care, arthroscopy of the shoulder and knee, and total joint replacement.
As an Assistant Clinical Professor at Nova Southeastern University, he helps to train orthopaedic resident physicians. He is also on call at a Level I Trauma Center, has been the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Plantation General Hospital since 2008, as well as maintains hospital privileges at several South Florida hospitals.
A 1992 graduate of The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont, Dr. Ellowitz completed his residency in orthopaedics at the University of Minnesota in 1997.

He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
