Champlin, Minnesota Aug 13, 2026 (Issuewire.com)  - Andrea Davis, FNP, is a Family Nurse Practitioner and Co-Medical Director at the Community-University Health Care Center (CUHCC), a collaborative healthcare organization affiliated with the University of Minnesota. Since becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2017 and joining CUHCC on January 2, 2018, Andrea has devoted her career to delivering comprehensive, patient-centered primary care while championing health equity for underserved communities. With more than 15 years of nursing experience and a Master of Science in Nursing from Minnesota State University, Mankato, she has established herself as both a compassionate clinician and an influential healthcare leader.

Andrea provides full-spectrum primary care to patients across every stage of life, from newborns to older adults. During a typical 10-hour clinic day, she sees approximately 20 to 22 patients, addressing preventive care, chronic disease management, acute illnesses, and long-term health concerns. Her patient population reflects the diverse communities served by CUHCC, including uninsured and underinsured individuals, immigrants, people living with substance use disorders, and patients facing significant socioeconomic barriers to healthcare access.

In addition to her regular primary care practice, Andrea leads a five-hour weekly walk-in clinic that serves individuals with urgent and complex medical needs. She evaluates and treats a broad range of conditions, including infections, poorly controlled chronic illnesses, and behavioral health concerns such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. Her ability to manage both acute and ongoing health challenges allows patients to receive timely care while reducing unnecessary emergency department visits and hospitalizations.

Andrea’s commitment to community health is rooted in a deep belief that every person deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of their circumstances. Throughout her career, she has focused on building meaningful relationships with patients, creating an environment where individuals feel respected, heard, and empowered to actively participate in their healthcare decisions.

In 2022, Andrea was appointed Co-Medical Director at CUHCC, expanding her impact beyond direct patient care. Working alongside an MD co-director, she oversees nurse practitioners while helping lead interdisciplinary provider teams dedicated to delivering integrated, high-quality care. Her leadership responsibilities include developing clinic-wide educational initiatives, advancing quality improvement efforts, and fostering collaboration among healthcare professionals across multiple disciplines.

As part of CUHCC’s close partnership with the University of Minnesota, Andrea also plays a significant role in clinical education. She mentors and supports learners from numerous healthcare professions, including medical residents, internal medicine and med-peds trainees, psychiatry residents, nurse practitioner students, pharmacy students, dental students, and social work students. Through hands-on teaching and collaborative learning, she helps prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals to provide compassionate, evidence-based care within diverse communities.

Her dedication to integrated care also extends to addiction medicine. As an X-waivered provider, Andrea has delivered medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder for the past six to seven years, helping patients access life-saving therapies while supporting long-term recovery. She remains deeply committed to expanding clinical capacity, strengthening interprofessional partnerships, and addressing healthcare disparities that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations.

Andrea credits much of her professional fulfillment to the lasting relationships she has built with her patients.

“I love the patients that I work with, I love the staff that I work with, and I love developing relationships with patients so that when they come in and see me, they know who I am, I know who they are, and they can feel comfortable being their authentic selves during their time with me,” she says. “I’ve always wanted to help people achieve their health goals, especially when there are significant barriers to care. Primary care allows me to support patients throughout every stage of life—from welcoming a newborn into the world to helping someone navigate end-of-life care. Every day is different, every day brings new challenges, and every day offers another opportunity to make a meaningful difference.”

That philosophy continues to shape every aspect of her work. Having previously worked in hospital medicine, Andrea recognized the tremendous value of community-based primary care in preventing disease progression, reducing avoidable hospitalizations, and helping patients better manage chronic conditions before they become medical crises. Her proactive, relationship-driven approach reflects a commitment to improving not only individual health outcomes but also the overall well-being of the communities she serves.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Andrea is a devoted mother who treasures spending time with her children. She enjoys exploring the outdoors and embracing nature through a variety of recreational activities. A former figure skater, she also finds joy in teaching others how to skate, sharing both her enthusiasm for the sport and the confidence it can inspire.

Whether caring for patients in the exam room, mentoring future healthcare providers, or leading organizational improvements that strengthen access to care, Andrea Davis remains steadfast in her mission to provide compassionate, equitable, and comprehensive healthcare. Through her clinical expertise, collaborative leadership, and unwavering dedication to community medicine, she continues to make a lasting impact on the lives of countless patients and families throughout Minneapolis and beyond.
