Alan Kaye of Shreveport, Louisiana, has been announced to be the recipient of the American Interventional Pain Physicians Lifetime Achievement Award for his years of work.

It's an award that is given because he has worked tirelessly to develop and advance Interventional Pain Management through leadership, clinical research, and dedication.

The award ceremony will be held in National Harbor, Maryland on March 16-18 to honor the recipients at the ASIPP 2023 Annual Meeting.

Alan Kaye is Board Certified in Anesthesiology and has a certificate in Pain Management for the American Board of Anesthesiology. 

Alan Kaye of Shreveport is also Diplomate of the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians.

Dr. Kaye also holds the title of Editor-in-Chief of the journal Pain Physician, Current Pain, and Head Ache Reports.

"Pharmacology of Angiotensin Peptides and Nonpeptide Agonists in the Pulmonary Vascular Bed of the Cat and the Rat" was the title of the thesis that Dr. Kaye wrote for his Ph.D. in vascular pharmacology in May 1997. As a resident of Galveston, he won first place in the National Student Research Forum. He has written or co-written more than 241 abstracts, 889 manuscripts, 309 book chapters, and 45 books in pharmacology, pain medicine, and anesthesiology.

He also completed a fellowship in pain management at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center under the direction of Drs. Miles Day, Prithvi Raj, and Gabor Racz. As a result of this, he is regarded as one of the nation's best interventional pain physicians and anesthesiologists. He holds an American Board of Anesthesiology special certificate in pain management in addition to being Board Certified as a Consultant in Anesthesiology. Additionally, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians and the American Board of Pain Medicine.

He has always been interested in education and teaching medical students and residents. He has helped to improve the curriculum at LSU Shreveport Medical School, which has resulted in a 100% pass rate for the USMLE 1 and USMLE 2 this past year. Dr. Kaye is currently a member of several national committees, one of which is the ASIPP and ABIPP National Board of Directors.
