Webster, Massachusetts Aug 6, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - After two years in business, TheCloneFoundry.com will cease operations effective immediately.
The Clone Foundry has announced the permanent closure of its cannabis clone business, effective immediately.
The decision was not made lightly, but the company believes closing is the responsible choice and ultimately in the best interest of its customers and the cultivation community.
The Clone Foundry began operating two years ago with the goal of providing growers with quality cannabis genetics. However, the company acknowledges that it did not consistently meet that standard.
Hop Latent Viroid, commonly known as HLVD, has been far more difficult for us to control than we anticipated. Despite our efforts, infected clones were shipped to customers for months. Those plants caused financial losses, damaged gardens and created problems that extended far beyond the original orders. The effects often extended far beyond the cost of the original order.
The Clone Foundry accepts responsibility for the harm caused.
Too many growers placed their trust in the company, and too many were negatively affected by clones received from its operation. The company determined that continuing to sell plants without being able to guarantee a consistently clean inventory would be irresponsible.
The Clone Foundry sincerely apologizes to every customer who received an HLVD-infected clone.
The company recognizes that replacing an infected plant cannot fully compensate growers for the time, labor, equipment, genetics and other plants that may have been lost as a result.
The Clone Foundry owner Matt Marcoux, also apologizes to customers who raised concerns and felt those concerns were not handled quickly, seriously or appropriately enough. The company acknowledges that certain situations should have been managed differently.
The Clone Foundry extends its gratitude to everyone who supported the business during its two years of operation. Every order, referral and opportunity was appreciated.
Although the company attempted to build a dependable source for cannabis clones, the damage caused by its failures reached a point where continuing the operation could no longer be justified.
Effective immediately, TheCloneFoundry.com has stopped accepting orders, and The Clone Foundry has permanently ended all cannabis clone sales.
The company remains deeply sorry to everyone affected.
