Abu Zabi, United Arab Emirates Mar 17, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Over 200 high-level decision-makers attended the Smart LightingTech UAE Summit on 14 – 15 March 2023 at Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi.
The Summit started with a keynote presentation on the significance of smart urban lighting for economic development from Suhaib Al Marzooqi, Head of Business Development, Abu Dhabi Energy Services (ADES).
During the morning sessions, Louis-Frédéric Robin, Head of Low Carbon Cities & Public Lighting Business Platform Energy Solutions provided an informative presentation on evaluating the overall impact of lighting in retrofit strategies.

Eng. Roa’a ALKhatib, Chief Lightovation Officer and Specifications Engineer discussed the role of governments in lighting strategies for public spaces. She provided strategies for improving overall energy efficiency while balancing costs.
The first day rounded up with presentations on implementing smart lighting, adaptive road lighting, incorporating exquisite façade lighting, and assessing the role of ESCOs in lighting projects. The Second day of the Summit featured two-panel discussions and world-class presentations from the leading experts from Abu Dhabi City Municipality, Works Agency Ras Al Khaimah, The Lighting Institute, CD+M Lighting Design group, Light Infusion, and many others, focused on sustainable lighting.
The first presentation tackled the importance of sustainable lighting to help increase overall efficiency in the public realm from Eng. Zainab Mohamed Hasan Mohamed Alhosani, Senior Lighting Engineer – Municipal Roads and Infrastructure Sector, Abu Dhabi City Municipality. Eng. Zainab shared insights on Noor Abu Dhabi Projects - a street lighting project to replace approximately 140,000 traditional streetlights in the emirate with energy-efficient LED technology.
During the morning panel session, experts discussed incorporating a sustainable lighting strategy for mega projects in the region. They commented on the main benefits of implementing a sustainable approach, and the essential things to consider when it comes to sustainable design. While the second-panel session discussed how to enhance urban development with smart lighting.
Another exciting presentation from Ahmed Elsayed Ban, Executive Director, of Works Agency Ras Al Khaimah was focused on integrating outdoor lighting retrofit with technology for enhanced control and efficiency. He showcased a case study on their successful lighting project and commented on how they are looking forward to incorporating or changing the traditional lamp post ads to a more advanced LED screen ad.
