Celebrities Lance Gross, Lamman Rucker, Toya Wright, Nicole Porche, and Jason Warrior Attend

Baton Rouge, Louisiana Jul 10, 2019 (Issuewire.com)  - The Bayou Soul Youth Literary Conference (BSYLC) recently wrapped up a long day of festivities on July 2, 2019, that included a stage play starring Actor Lamman Rucker (Greenleaf), empowerment seminars, master classes in writing and art and an essay contest held in the late Dr Maya Angelou’s name.  However, the highlight was an appearance by actor, philanthropist, and social activist Danny Glover who received a key to the city from the Mayor of Baton Rouge, Sharon Broome. Glover arrived at 10a.m. to the Magnolia Theater on the campus of Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) where the stage play written by BSYLC founder, Clarence Nero, and based on a student anthology of BRCC students called, “Voices From the Bayou: Baton Rouge Students Confront Racism, Police Brutality and a Historic Flood,” was set to begin. The production was supported with a grant from the Mayor’s office and RECAST whose sole purpose is to address trauma and help individuals heal in the community. There was a VIP Luncheon hosted by BRCC’s Chancellor Smith that also included Reality TV Star Toya Wright (T.I. and Tiny’s Family Hustle) and her mother Anita Johnson, Actor Lance Gross (House of Payne), Lamman Rucker,  actress Nicole Porche (I Got the Hook Up 2), Celebrity Publicist Love Logan, Jason Warrior (The Voice), and Journalist Donovan “Action” Jackson. Both Rucker, Gross, and Logan later joined the students to host master classes in acting and the entertainment industry. The day culminated with all of the celebrities and speakers judging the Maya Angelou essay contest. Mr Glover and founder of Bayou Soul, Clarence Nero, ended the day by delivering inspirational speeches and reminding the youth to never give up and to use their voices to be sources of strength and empowerment to others.
