Activities for the Apocalypse and other fun stuff to do during lockdown

  • First-time writer Matt Campbell, 31, from Billingham has been keeping himself busy during the coronavirus lockdown by writing an activity book for adults. The compendium features a collection of tongue-in-cheek poetry, games, fun stories & ideas along with hundreds of activities to help adults beat the lockdown blues. Matt, who has never written a full manuscript before has spent 2 weeks producing poetry, images and activities for the book which has just launched a ‘Kickstarter’ campaign to get the book published. “I didn’t know that publishing a book was quite as expensive as it is, so I’m asking for some help in getting it off the ground. People can ‘back’ the book on Kickstarter and get a reward for doing so – a pre-order of the book in paperback or ebook for example”
  • Matt, who is an ex-teacher and currently runs a nightclub (Tiny) in Middlesbrough that has been closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak said “The idea of the book is to provide a much-needed distraction to adults at this worrying time - with satirical humour in mind. I know that many adults are struggling to cope and this book has been a kind of therapy for me and it will hopefully brighten things a little bit for those who read it”
  • The book features many fun poems and anecdotes such as ‘Sheilagh the sleep paralysis Demon’, ‘Killer Karen’ & ‘The Creativity Llama” all of whom deal with the pandemic in their own way. The book also offers advice and activities that promise to make quarantine fun – drinking games, ‘recipes for disaster’ and quarantine cocktails - all of which can be done in the isolation of your own home. To support the book and the Kickstarter campaign visit https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pandemicpoetry/pandemic-poetry-and-yellow-spray-paint before 29th April 2020. It is an ‘all or nothing’ type campaign so if the target isn’t reached then nobody loses money and the project isn’t funded.
