Aambra Foundation presents SHE SPEAKS EDITION 12.0 Celebrating International Women's day

The 12th edition of She Speaks brought together top leaders, industrialists, bureaucrats, diplomats, artists and social entrepreneurs.

New Delhi, Delhi Mar 11, 2021 (Issuewire.com)  - The seminar commenced with the inaugural lamp lighting and included esteemed dignitaries – Hon’ble Dr. Kirit Solanki (Member of Parliament, from Gujarat), Hon’ble Smt. Sunita Duggal (Member of Parliament, from Haryana), Industrialist Dr. Aruna Abhey Oswal (Chairperson, Abhey Oswal Group, Aruna Abhey Oswal Trust), H.E. Mr. Raimund Magis (Deputy Chief of Mission, EU Delegation to India & Bhutan), H.E. Ms. Grace Akello (High Commissioner, Uganda High Commission), and the Founder, President and C.O.O. of Aambra Foundation Ms. Vinita Bakshi.

During the inaugural Hon’ble Dr. Kirit Solanki (Member of Parliament, Govt. Of India) addressed the audience by reminding everyone of a woman’s resilience and strength. In his words “महिला सही माईने में अबला नहीं है। वो शक्ति है।” He talked about how Ujjawala has empowered women in rural India.

Smt. Sunita Duggal, Member of Parliament began by highlighting Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi’s contribution to the advancement of women in India. She mentioned Jan Aushudhi Kendra will revolutionize medical care. Dr. Aruna Abhey Oswal (Chairperson, Abhey Oswal Group, Aruna Abhey Oswal Trust) emphasized on the significance of family support in a women’s empowerment journey.

Mrs Vinita Bakshi said we should celebrate the joy of birth rather than gender to create an inclusive and gender-balanced society.

The first panel discussed “Cyber Threats - Security Pitfalls for Women” moderated by Ms. Swati Rangachari (Vice President & Country Leader, Public Affairs, United Health Group) reviewed how the internet can be both a boon and a bane.

Dr. Archana Gulati, IP&TAFS (Joint Secretary, Niti Aayog) said “online harassment and violence exposes women and girls to mental suffering and emotional distress and very often this translates into physical violence”. H.E. Ms. Grace Akello added “the most beautiful thing on earth is to have a man and a woman working together to advance the interest of humanity”; Mr. Puneet Chawla, (CMD, Railtel)  said "Our dependence on the digital system has become an inescapable part of our lives.”; Mr. P Balaji, (Chief Regulatory & Corporate Affairs Officer, Vodafone Idea Ltd) said, “When you educate women, you take care of their safety as well, because suddenly, their awareness of the world around them significantly goes up.”

The second panel discussion moderated by Ms. Vinita Bakshi began with the question “What is so abnormal for women working from home? More affirmative actions need to be taken to keep them safe”. H.E. Mr. Raimund Magis,  said “Women can do everything but it is not a steady progress and there are many pushbacks”. Dr. Sadhna Shanker (Chief Income Tax Commissioner)  said, “Women are often compelled to give their professional life to caregiving”. Mr. Abhishek Singh, (President & CEO, National e-Governance Division (NeGD) said “The lessons from work from home need to be attended and ensured that the stress-related issues are taken care of so that it will be beneficial for both men and women”.

The final panel discussed Financial Inclusion of Women in the COVID era and beyond was moderated by Ms. Bhuvana Ravi, (MD, Abhay Capital) who said “Vocational training and reskilling are very important attributes for a woman”.  Ms. Vinita Bakshi said “the school dropout rate for girls is abysmally high. Without improving basic education how can we even discuss inclusion.” “Bank accounts even today are opened under a man’s name, so having an individual account for women can empower them as well as give them independence” said Mr. Sudeep Luthra (Orange Business Services).

The three-panel discussions were followed by a spectacular Bharatanatyam performance with the theme Ujjayini-the victorious one, the feminine energy, the force of nature, the Shakti by leading artists Ms. Bhadra Sinha and Ms. Gayathri Sharma.
