Hertfordshire, United Kingdom Aug 20, 2018 (Issuewire.com) - Two qualified and experienced women plumbers and gas engineers will take questions from the public between 10 am and 4.30 on 25th August in St Albans Market.
It's part of the launch of the first Stopcocks Woman Plumber and Gas Engineer in Hertfordshire, Christina Birch.
Local girl Christina, Registered Gas Engineer since 2011 and the new Stopcocks Woman Plumber in St Albans and the surrounding area will be joined by Hattie Hasan, founder of Stopcocks who has been a plumber since 1990. Hasan qualified as a gas engineer in 1996 and has been on the Gas Safe Register ever since although she now runs Stopcocks, the world’s only national company of women plumbers.
Christina says “I find that people often put off getting work done.
Many home-owners are worried they’ll encounter a rogue trader and they’d rather put up with things not being right. But with boilers and gas that can be dangerous. We understand this and by doing a live Q&A people can come and ask us questions, get reassurance and find out what they need to do to stay safe”.
“Every time I go to a party, as soon as I say I’m a plumber I’m besieged by people with plumbing problems and questions they want answering,” says Hasan “It’s a bit like being a doctor I imagine. I’ve done radio phone ins and the phone lines are jammed. I think it’s difficult to get a plumber to come to your house just to give you advice, if you do there’s an expectation you’ll want them to do the job”.
The event will be attended by The Right Worshipful The Mayor of the City and District of St Albans; Rosemary Farmer who will cut a ribbon and say a few words to welcome Christina’s Stopcocks business to St Albans at 1pm.
