About the Author — Joan Long
Born and raised in a farming community in North Carolina, Joan Long’s love for literature began early. A proud Randleman High School graduate and class Salutatorian (1949), she nurtured her passion for writing through school papers, church plays, and storytelling for her children.
After moving to Chapel Hill in 1959—home of the University of North Carolina—Joan deepened her craft through English courses at UNC. Under the guidance of her writing instructor, author Manley Wade Wellman, she was encouraged to pursue authorship. Through her Christian writers' group, she finally penned Depart From Evil, a reflection of her faith, life experience, and conviction about the unseen spiritual battles believers face.
In addition to Depart From Evil, Joan Long is also the author of Daisy’s Hope for Her Journey, further affirming her commitment to faith-centered storytelling that uplifts, encourages, and points readers toward hope.
