8th Annual Getting Played Symposium Returns to Stanford University with Transparent Keynote Speaker Joey Soloway

Six leading panelists strategize next steps for diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry; moderated by founder Dr. Kathleen Antonia Tarr.

Stanford, California Apr 5, 2022 (Issuewire.com)  - The 8th Annual Getting Played Symposium at Stanford University returns virtually on April 23, 2022, with hard-hitting issues around equity and diversity in the entertainment industry. The symposium is free and open to the public and starts at 12 noon (Pacific Standard Time/PST).

This year’s Keynote Speaker is an artist, activist, and filmmaker, Joey Soloway (they/them), the creator of the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series Transparent and cult feminist series I Love Dick, both from Amazon Studios.

In its eighth year, the symposium led the discussion of inequities in the entertainment industry with first-hand accounts before the groundswell in Hollywood, and its illustrious alumni continue to present direct-action solutions from labor issues to representation to accountability.

Panelists include Rotimi Agbabiaka (actor/writer/director, The Red Shades: A Trans Superhero Rock Opera), Maria Giese (journalist/screenwriter/director, This Changes Everything), Cidney Hue (writer/director, Cyborg Nation), Naomi McDougall Jones (writer/producer/actor, Bite Me), and Sean San José (co-founder Campo Santo; Artistic Director Magic Theater).

Share in timely discussions to resolve, strategize, address, and take control of the equity and the diversity narrative in the entertainment industry through lively and stimulating conversations themed as “Point Of View” –how creators shape what entertains us and how their choices impact equity and social issues. These experts share their personal insights and answer your questions.

Symposium founder Kathleen Antonia Tarr moderates this must-attend event.

The 8th Annual Getting Played Symposium on Equity in the Entertainment Industry and Awards is free and open to the public!
