Bengaluru, Karnataka Aug 15, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - The 74th Independence Day of the Republic of India was celebrated at Alliance Francaise de Bangalore today as the Indian National Flag flurred at their premises located in Vasanth Nagar, Bangalore. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Marjorie Vanbaelinghem, Consul General of France presided by Mr. Zafer Mohiuddin, President Alliance Francaise de Bangalore along with Mr. Chiranjivi Singh, past President and Guest of Honour who participated virtually with other esteemed dignitaries who were present on the occasion.
“I wish all Indians a happy Independence Day and would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm France’s friendship with India. France and India share a dynamic all-weather partnership based on solid and common views of the world" said Dr Marjorie Vanbaelinghem, Consul General of France in her message.
Since, Mr. Chiranjivi Singh could not be present physically, he shared a message stating that it was a day of celebration as well as reflection. “India and France are collaborating in many fields. Let’s hope the combined efforts of the two countries bring relief to humanity” he envisaged.
In his address, Mr .Zafer Mohiuddin reflected on the pre-independent times and lives of freedom fighters. Sharing his thoughts on the current pandemic situation, he stressed on the damage done to nature and environment around us that has affected people around the world. A day of prominent significance to the nation is celebrated virtually in most parts of the country.
“It is my immense pleasure to be a part of this celebration and we take pride in hoisting the Indian flag from the premises of Alliance Francaise in Bengaluru to mark the occasion of the 74th Independence Day celebrations in India. It is our aim to further augment Indo-French relationships through exchange of art and culture that binds us together” said Mr. Zafer Mohiuddin, President - Alliance Francaise de Bangalore.
He also stressed on the need to free our minds in order to live a more fulfilling life, which can be achieved by focussing on various aspects of art and culture as even colours have a therapeutic and healing factor to it. Such engagements are essential for the foundation of Alliance Francaise de Bangalore, he emphasised.
Speaking about the relationship that both countries share, Dr. Vanbaelinghem said, “This year, France and India have proven a stronger commitment in their friendship through exceptional solidarity in the face of the current crisis - one of the most noteworthy contributions comes from Agency Française de Development, through a 200 million euros loan for social service to the most vulnerable in the Indian population. Of course here as well as in the major cities from where repatriation took place, we received immense support from the Indian authorities”.
The celebrations were held in conformity with the State Government Advisory for COVID-19 pandemic restricting the gathering to not more than 25 members. The event was witnessed live on their Facebook page.
