Temecula, California Jan 26, 2021 (Issuewire.com)  - Grace "Gracie" Sevilla, age 7, began wrestling earlier this year after regularly attending her brother Luke's wrestling practices for the past year; Luke is a 9-year-old rookie wrestler for Temecula, California's teamsocalwrestling.com, a competition team supported by Wrestling and MMA Legend - Dan Henderson - and coached by legendary California, youth, high school, and college U.S. wrestling coach - Steve Glassey.

On Sunday, January 24th in Bakersfield, California, Gracie Sevilla, competing in her first wrestling tournament ever, and after only a few official practices, went undefeated and secured a pin to claim the SV (California's South San Joaquin Valley) Scuffle K-2 74 lb. Championship weighing 66 lbs.

Gracie, diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, a rare but increasingly visible and incurable autoimmune disorder, had to overcome a blood sugar level that at one point during the competition reached nearly 400 mg. (normal range is 80 - 120) by receiving insulin injections while not on the mat, as well as high carb snacks to raise her blood sugar when going low.

Gracie, a homeschooled 2nd Grader with California's Spring Charter Schools, has been competing in sports even before she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 4; she also excels in Soccer, Softball, Gymnastics, and in Football, where she has been her team's starting quarterback; Boxing and Volleyball are next on her list.

Gracie has been often coached on her teams by her mother and father and competes alongside her brother Luke Sevilla, also a standout athlete who has just completed a stellar rookie wrestling season for Team So. Cal and previously the 3G Wrestling Team out of La Verne, California; Luke has repeatedly placed in the Top 3 at national wrestling tournaments which have earned him All-American honors.

Both Luke and Gracie will be competing this weekend at RMN Events Arizona National Showdown in Prescott Valley, Arizona on January 30th and 31st, 2021.
