Washington, D.C, District of Columbia Jun 18, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - Washington, D.C. Honors a Trailblazer: The 4th Annual Lee Elder Memorial Golf Charity Classic Tees Off to Celebrate Legacy, Community, and Youth Development
The Langston Golf Course Conservancy invites the public to an unforgettable day of sport, style, and celebration at the 4th Annual Lee Elder Memorial Golf Charity Classic, honoring the legendary Lee Elder (1934–2021) — the first Black man to compete in the Masters Tournament and a groundbreaking figure in professional golf.
Set against the historic backdrop of Langston Golf Course, this exciting tournament raises vital funds to support the course’s revitalization and provide scholarships for youth in the Langston Junior Boys and Girls Golf Club. This year’s event marks the first in a series of initiatives by the Conservancy to posthumously honor Elder’s monumental legacy in golf and civil rights.
A Spectator Experience Like No Other
Each spectator ticket includes access to two signature experiences:
- Grapes on the Green: A mid-day wine tasting presented by Soul of Sonoma, featuring curated varietals, gourmet appetizers, and a scenic tented retreat on the course.
- The Après-Golf Classic Cookout: The celebration continues with music, food, a golf fashion show, wine, and the Awards Ceremony—bringing together golfers, sponsors, and community to honor a new D.C. tradition.
Special Recognition:
We are proud to present the Hospitality Lifetime Achievement Award to nightlife and hospitality icon Marc Barnes, recognizing his decades of influence and contributions to Washington’s cultural landscape.
