The Bertha Van Hoosen Award, which is named in honor of the founder and first president of AMWA, honors one or more women physicians who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and service to women physicians and students through AMWA.
Dr. Bisi Alli, dual board-certified in Internal Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine, is the newly appointed treasurer and two-term AMWA board member. With over a decade of clinical experience, she is dedicated to advancing patient care through improved processes and efficient healthcare systems, utilizing her expertise as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
In her academic roles as an Associate Clinical Professor at Creighton University and Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine–Phoenix, Dr. Alli supports future physicians in nutrition and lifestyle care, advancing education and better health for our communities.
Her leadership in medicine has earned her several achievement awards, notably the 2024 AMWA Inspire Award, 2021 American College of Physicians Arizona Women in Medicine Award, American College of Physicians – Arizona Chapter, 2020 Exceptional Mentor Award through the American Medical Women's Association, and the 2017 Early Career Physician of the Year Award from the American College of Physicians.
