Vancouver’s Muslim Mental Health Line Encourages People to Seek Help In Challenging Times

The Healthomatic Foundation’s hotline is offering texting services for people who are struggling with depression and anxiety.

Vancouver, British Columbia Aug 14, 2020 (Issuewire.com)  - The Muslim Mental Health Line is a texting hotline in Vancouver that aims to support people who are suffering from anxiety and depression. The hotline encourages people with mental health challenges, especially among Muslim youth, to seek help through safe communication. The organization promotes wellness of the human mind, which has been especially critical during the pandemic.

The hotline is open 24/7 and can be reached at +1.604.355.1700 through text messaging. The texting line is 100 percent anonymous. People can also reach out to @MuslimMentalHealthLine via direct message on Instagram if they need someone to talk to.

The Director of The Muslim Mental Health Hotline, Amer Kapani, is a model, entrepreneur, public speaker, and advocate for mental health.  He is very involved in the Vancouver community and is currently working on several networking events when the city can re-open safely, for example, one in the works called “The Entrepreneur Mind”. Kapani grew up witnessing a gap in today’s society among the Muslim community and the general public when it comes to challenges with anxiety and depression. As a result, he started the Healthomatic Foundation.

The Muslim Mental Health Line is a branch of Healthomatic Foundation, a non-profit organization founded in 2018 that provides services for those struggling with their mental health. Healthomatic is currently hiring key positions, including an event director and grant director. The company also always welcomes new volunteers for events. Résumés, as well as suggestions and ideas, can be sent to Healthomatic@hotmail.com

Kapani is inspired to solve this world issue collectively, with support from one another. He references a famous line from Rocky Balboa as encouragement for anyone dealing with a battle against their mental health.

“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place, and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! “ - Sylvester Stallone; Rocky Balboa
