Small Firm Wins Second Patent Victory Against Industry Giant

Seattle, Washington Feb 10, 2020 (Issuewire.com)  - Small Firm Wins Second Patent Victory Against Industry Giant

In a key victory for a small adhesives manufacturing company, The Patent Trial and Appeal Board at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, on February 4, denied 3M Company's request for a rehearing on the validity of a low VOC canister patent held by Westech Aerosol Corporation.

About six months earlier, Westech scored another win in the same case against 3M when the Patent Board determined, through the IPR process, that claims 3 and 4 of Westech patent 7,705,056 were valid, setting the stage for a David vs. Goliath showdown to determine legal damages.

"I feel a responsibility to protect Westech's intellectual property against patent infringers even though it is a stressful process for an inventor," said. Dr. David Carnahan, president and founder of Westech. "I'm now in discussions with one of the most esteemed intellectual property law firms in the country to take this case to trial."

Westech, located in Washington state, pioneered a cost-effective adhesive solution in a spray canister that complies with the strictest environmental regulations. Westech's technology won the prestigious Sequoia Award for Environmental Leadership.
