New York City, New York May 26, 2020 (Issuewire.com)  - Rebecca is a well-versed licensed practical nurse who specializes in oncology, transitional care, and physical medicine & rehabilitation. Since January of 1998, she has been working at Providence St. Patrick Hospital, a health care facility in Missoula, Montana.

Providence St. Patrick Hospital has 253 licensed beds and is home to some of the northern Rocky Mountain region’s most advanced health care. What has remained constant through the years, as a community hospital, is the ability to provide highly advanced and deeply compassionate care to all patients. “Guided by the philosophy of the Sisters of Providence, we live their Mission of compassion and respect, caring for the poor and vulnerable. Every day, we reach out to help those who need us the most by caring for them and easing their way” as stated on their website.

Rebecca’s career in nursing began in 1995, when she graduated with her nursing degree from the University of Montana in Missoula. Since graduating, she has gained a wealth of experience in many areas of nursing and completed a number of advanced training courses.

Her experience at Providence St. Patrick Hospital has been vast and varied. She worked as a staff nurse on a busy renal/oncology and medical overflow unit for 12 years and as a charge nurse on a 13-bed transitional care unit for 4 years. During that same time, she was a preceptor for all new hires within the hospital and could be found on a committee that updated/wrote all hospital policies that guide nursing practice for the hospital.

Taking on a new direction toward rehab nursing in neuromuscular disorders, she is currently helping her provider expand her practice in partnering with the Neurosciences Institute within Providence St Patrick Hospital.

“I have a new opportunity each day to make a difference in someone’s life at a critical time in theirs. Each day is a learning experience and I am challenged to be a better caregiver with each patient I interact with” as stated by Rebecca.

Having always been interested in helping others for as long as she can remember, she enjoys interacting with people and helping those most vulnerable in the community. She listens to their needs, validates their feelings, and treats them with respect. As a result, she attributes her success to her passion for her profession and the ability to learn something new almost every day because in nursing, “you never know it all.”

In order to stay up to date in her field, Rebecca remains a member of the Montana Nurses Association, which is a non-profit organization that promotes professional nursing practice, standards and education; represents professional nurses; and provides nursing leadership in promoting high quality health care.

A licensed practical nurse (LPN) provides routine care for the sick or injured. They work under the supervision of doctors and registered nurses, performing duties such as taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medication, ensuring patient comfort, and reporting the status of their patients to the nurses.

LPNs are generally hired in smaller settings such as nursing homes, home health environments, and rehabilitation centers. They must be skilled in balancing care for patients and completing practical daily administrative tasks.

In her personal life, Rebecca is happily married. Her favorite place to vacation is in Hawaii. When her time permits it, she enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
