Atlanta, Georgia Aug 26, 2020 (Issuewire.com)  - The Professional Sports Technology Institute (PSTI), an education and standards division inside the International Sports Technology Association (ISTA), has issued its first quality mark designation for an online course titled, "AI in Sports with Python".

AI in Sports with Python is a comprehensive eight module course and practice guide focused on Machine Learning methods in sport. It was designed for anyone who is interested in data-focused artificial intelligence and innovative applications in sport.

The Professional Sports Technology Institute’s recently launched quality marks are earned through a review process to validate such things as product knowledge, conference workshops, online courses, or training seminars. Many professional organizations mandate their members meet specific professional development activities as part of a membership commitment to keep up with rapidly changing tools and techniques. The Institute’s quality marks, in the form of a special logo, add trust by communicating a standard. The sports industry can be assured that content marked as approved, accredited, or certified meets appropriate standards.

Tanya Porter, VP/Executive Director at ISTA's Professional Sports Technology Institute, said, "This course highlights an area where sport lacks understanding." She went on to say, "A highly functioning Sports Technologist does not need to be a Machine Learning expert, but the industry needs a starting point of reference to usher in sophisticated data analysis, and Python is a great place to start."

AI in Sports with Python is important because it uses real-world examples from tennis, surfing, skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding, football, gymnastics, basketball, javelin, weightlifting, track and field and much more. The course is accompanied by practical step-by-step Python code samples and Jupyter Notebooks. The included models and methods can be used to create solutions for AI-enhanced coaching, judging, athletic performance improvement, movement analysis, simulations, in sports, health and fitness, motion capture, gaming, cinema production and more.

The course has been granted the “Approved” designation to recognize the content for its importance in the growing sports technology sector.  The course is now available.
