New York City, New York Aug 25, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - An experienced radiologist, Dr. Kenney is a Professor of Radiology and a member of the General/Body Imaging Division at UAMS Medical Center.
He has special interests in all aspects of genitourinary radiology as well as trauma imaging. His clinical duties include plain radiography, fluoroscopic procedures, Body CT and Ultrasound.
UAMS Medical Center is a teaching hospital and a Level I trauma center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Ranked as one of “America’s Best Hospitals” by US News & World Report 13 consecutive times, it is recognized as a “high performing” hospital in the areas of cancer, ear, nose and throat, gynecology, and nephrology.
In the past, Dr. Kenney held staff positions at SUNY Syracuse Medical Center 1981–85 and at the University of Alabama at Birmingham 1985–2007. He joined the faculty at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in 2007 as Chair of the Department of Radiology. After stepping down as Chair, he has continued as Professor of Radiology.
Born and raised in Syracuse, New York, Dr. Kenney obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at LeMoyne College in 1973. He earned his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1977 and spent a year in an internship in internal medicine at St. Louis University in 1977–78. He then went on to complete a residency in radiology at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Washington University in St. Louis in 1981.
Publishing extensively and lecturing worldwide in GU radiology and trauma, the doctor is board-certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.
On a professional level, Dr. Kenney served as President of the Society of Uroradiology, now merged into the Society of Abdominal Radiology.
Radiology refers to the field of medicine that uses non-invasive imaging scans to diagnose a patient. A radiologist is a physician who uses imaging methodologies to diagnose and manage patients and provide therapeutic options.
On a more personal note, Dr. Kenney’s current external interests include membership on the Board of Directors of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and work with Ballet Arkansas.
