Non-Profit Connects With Foster Care Expert to Discuss Covid-19 and Child Welfare

Avondale, Arizona Feb 13, 2021 (Issuewire.com)  - Sade Bradford-Bond, Executive Director of Free Foster Care Books, Inc. collaborated with Dr. John DeGarmo of the Foster Care Institute to discuss the impact of Covid-19 on the foster care community. He cited lack of resources and support for foster parents and caregivers, concerns regarding the mental health of youth, and social isolation as major factors that make the pandemic more challenging in the child welfare community. Dr. DeGarmo encouraged adult foster care alumni who don’t qualify for services due to age to seek professional help for mental health services as need if they are struggling during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Mrs. Bradford-Bond has begun a new initiative at Free Foster Care Books, Inc. to engage the foster care community in meaningful dialogue to discuss the issues that impact its members the most.

“I wanted to create a space where people could feel comfortable sharing their perspective about a system that has had such an impact on their life, (good or bad) with the hope that others can learn and get more insight about child welfare in America,” Mrs. Bradford added.
