Tucson, Arizona Dec 22, 2018 (Issuewire.com) - AHSC is on a mission to provide gathering places in local communities throughout the nation where heroes and their families can congregate, support one another, and form bonds with members of the community. The organization will not work independently but in conjunction with other non-profits that currently support veterans, active military, police officers, firefighters, and first responders. These community centres will serve as a bridge between the local community, their heroes, and the organizations that support them.
AHSC recognizes that there are many organizations that support different groups heroes like Wounded Warriors, the Gary Sinise Foundation, the International Association of Firefighters, and the National Association of Police Officers. However, there is no one place in each local community where all types of heroes can go – to access important resources, spend time together, adjust to civilian life, and get to know their community.
The organization will soon become that place where heroes can go to get support in their communities across the nation. The realization that this much-needed service was missing came from the AHSC’s founder, Nick Barry. Through his own experience as a military veteran, he often heard the words “thank you for your service.” He came to understand that these words are nice, but beyond the gesture, how do they really help our heroes?
Mr. Barry recognized that there are many organizations on a national level that support different groups of heroes. And there are plenty of concerned and caring citizens in their communities who genuinely want to show support beyond the words of “thank you” - they just need a way to do it.
AHSC, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, sees its mission as urgent, yet very doable. Urgent because of the growing need for help and support for these heroes at a local, grassroots level. And doable with the help of those who support their mission.
Each local support centre will serve all heroes, including first responders, an often overlooked and undervalued segment of the population.
American Heroes Support Centers is calling on organizations and businesses at the local and national levels to help launch these centres. And they are also asking citizens to take action to bring one of these centres to their community.
AHSC believes that when we, as a nation, ask ourselves what comes after “thank you” for our heroes, these support centres will be the answer.
