GPHCC Announces Inaugural Cohort of Accelerate Latinx Business Entrepreneurship Program

Accelerate Latinx, powered by Interise and the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is a new initiative aimed at building a more diverse and inclusive economy by supporting the growth of established Latinx-owned businesses.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Sep 17, 2019 (Issuewire.com)  - GPHCC, a not-for-profit organization devoted to promoting the advancement and economic growth of Hispanic businesses and professionals in the Greater Philadelphia region, announced the acceptance of 15 Latinx-owned businesses into the inaugural cohort of Accelerate Latinx, an award-winning business management program being offered for the first time in the Hispanic community.

Accelerate Latinx, powered by the national nonprofit, Interise, and the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce aims to build a more diverse and inclusive economy by supporting the growth of established Latinx-owned businesses. Using Interise’s award-winning curriculum, the StreetWise’ MBA’™, Accelerate Latinx is designed to scale established, Hispanic-owned small businesses for local job and wealth creation. GPHCC is among four organizations selected to lead the program.

“GPHCC is excited to bring Accelerate Latinx to our community”, said Jennifer Rodríguez, President & CEO of GPHCC. “We know that Hispanics start businesses at three times the national average, but our businesses tend to start smaller and stay smaller than their counterparts. This curriculum has proven to be a game-changer for entrepreneurs around the US and we are confident that it will be just as successful in the Latino community here in Philadelphia.”

Running from September through March 2020, the program consists of 13 sessions over 7 months that will provide entrepreneurs with access to the knowledge and resources they need to grow their businesses and economic impact. The companies selected for the inaugural cohort include: A & I Security, Ahida Garcia State Farm Insurance Agent, Casa Papel LLC, Collazo Ophthalmology & Optometry Associates, El Merkury, Green North Studio LLC, JL Reyes Accounting & Tax Service LLC, Joshua Catering, LUHV Food, Melo Import Services LLC, Parallel Architecture Studio LLC, Rosales Communications, Tortillería San Román, Tozuda, and Urena Construction.

Locally, the program is supported through partnerships with the Widener University Small Business Development Center, Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha, and Santander.
