Disability Wayne County Detroit Becomes the Go-To Place for Disabled People Residing in Wayne County

Detroit, Michigan May 9, 2018 (Issuewire.com)  - Even though most of us won't encounter them each day, people with disabilities do exist as a formidable portion of our society. In 2016, almost 13% of all US citizens could be categorized as non-institutionalized disabled people. That's nearly 41 million people with any given handicap living and trying to fit in with the rest of the society.

The good news is, Mrs Lori Hill-Sander, the Executive Director of Disability Network Wayne County Detroit, is demonstrating a commitment to improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities living in a residential setting in Wayne County. She shows commitment to leadership, advocacy and family support, which in turn, is improving services to Wayne County disabled citizens.

Disability Network Wayne County Detroit (DNWCD) is a Consumer driven organization and voice in the community that works to develop the ability of people with disabilities to live as independently as they choose.

We believe that people with disabilities should have the ability to be included in everyday life.
To make this happen, we advocate for people with disabilities and encourage them to form a unified voice to minimize barriers that prevent independence. We do these things because we believe that all people are equal. As human beings, people with disabilities deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Also, each person with a disability should have equal access to all parts of the community in which they live.

“I’ve met many passionate individuals with and without disabilities and one thing remains certain is that we are much stronger when we support one another and foster our youth. I am always so amazed by what can be accomplished when we all work together…….. Mrs Sanders”

Disability Network Wayne County Detroit annually serves more than 2,500 disabled citizens across Wayne County whose challenges range from job skills training and housing needs to benefits planning, to transitioning from rehabilitative care to living independently.
