Sanctuary Refuge founder / CEO Simone Patterson says that domestic violence used to be a silent killer,

But following a series of recent deaths. This horrible crime is now happening weekly.

News articles relating the deaths of Luke Batty, Tara Brown, the two teenagers, Jack and Jennifer killed recently by their father, as well Larissa Beilby 16, just a couple of weeks ago, all emphasize this.

“Statistics show that one woman, each week in Australia is killed due to domestic violence”

“The police attend over 192 domestic violence situations each morning before 6am! The children caught up in this violence are innocent victims.” Mrs Patterson Says.

The Sanctuary Women, Children and Pet’s Refuge assists domestic violence victims, as well as their pets, through the provision of safety, security, education, nutrition, counseling and health care.

It provides safe crisis accommodation for domestic violence victims and their children.  It supplies counselors, doctors, and a psychologist, as well as ongoing care to help these victims escaping domestic violence in their time of need.

“The Sanctuary needs help to finish buildings to house more domestic violence victims,” She said.
